How to Get Started
Pending Changes to South Dakota’s Cannabis Program
There are currently two initiatives on the ballot.
Measure 26 would legalize a bonafide medical marijuana program in the state. Eligible patients with doctor certification would be allowed to possess a maximum of three ounces of medical marijuana. Qualifying conditions would include severe and debilitating pain.
Amendment A would legalize, regulate, and tax marijuana for individuals age 21 and older. The amendment requires the Legislature to pass laws regarding hemp and regulations ensuring access to marijuana for medical use. Individuals would be allowed to possess up to one ounce of marijuana. Marijuana sales would be taxed at 15%.
